Amritsar, June 25

The Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF) has criticised the move of the Punjab School Education Board regarding fee hike for students and administrative works from this session.

The DTF, in a press statement, condemned the board for reportedly hiking the fee for issuing duplicate certificate. The fee for verification of certificate has been increased from Rs 800 to 1,500 per certificate. Besides, fee has been hiked for reappear, choosing additional subject, etc.

Vikramdev Singh of the Democratic Teachers’ Front said, “The board is trying to recover its financial loss by increasing fees. If someone wants to get verification of his certificate, he has to pay Rs 3,000. This is not fair.”

Gurdev Singh, vice-president, Democratic Teachers’ Front, Amritsar district, said, “Teachers are against any unnecessary fee hike. The board list talks about hike in examination fee for the students of Classes X and XII. This will surely impact the students in the long run. Moreover, teachers have not been paid for their exam duties, checking answer sheets.”
