The recent cases of child abuse and alleged rape have highlighted need for creating an awareness in kids on good and bad touch.

Recently, a 50-year-old school teacher was arrested for allegedly raping a student at a village in Attari.

Many feel that regular workshops, interaction with the child can help find a solution and spreading awareness.

Upasana Mehra, Principal, Senior Study II, said, “We have organised programmes for the students of Classes III-V and teach them what is bad touch through movies and animations. Also, it’s the duty of parents to teach the kids difference between the two.”

“We aware kids of good and bad touches. We also motivate them talk about such issues with teachers as well as their parents. We try to avoid male staff in junior classes. So that kids feel more comfortable,” said Manisha Dhanuka, principal, Stalwarts World School.

“Incidents of molestation, eve teasing and rape have gone up. The kids are even not being spared. It is really important to teach kids at their level in a simple language. To begin with one can teach kids sensitive body parts educate them through stories, videos, movies among others,” added Sangeeta Singh, principal, Delhi Public School.

“The school managements and parents must take care of kids. The schools must go for verification of the staff and parents must be vigilant. It is important that child is taught about these things early in life,” said Monika, a parent.
