A day after the murder of a Tarn Taran-based financier, the police have arrested two of the suspects, identified as Gurvail Singh and his daughter-in-law, with whom the deceased allegedly had illicit relations.

The deceased, Narinder Singh, was killed reportedly by four persons in Maude village here on Sunday owing to “illicit” relations.

According to the police, the deceased had gone to meet the woman when her in-laws caught them red-handed and killed him.

Acting on the statement of Manjinder Singh, a resident of Nanaksar in Tarn Taran and son of the deceased, the police booked Gurvail Singh, Satnam Singh and Gurjant Singh besides the woman with whom he had been in a “relationship”.

Randhir Singh, SHO, Gharinda police station, said Narinder’s sister Amarjit Kaur was married in Maude village, located near the international border. He said the accused woman came in contact with the deceased through Amarjit Kaur.

He said Narinder helped the woman in getting several household items on installment basis. Through him, the woman also started providing household items to other residents on installments. Amid this, the two developed a relationship and they allegedly started meeting each other.

Her in-laws also got a wind of this, but they remained silent as they wanted to catch them red-handed. When Narinder and his son had come to meet Amarjit Kaur, Narinder went to meet the woman when her in-laws spotted them. They bludgeoned Narinder, leaving him critically injured who died later.
