Amritsar, February 17

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jails, Rohit Chaudhary, inspected the high security Amritsar Central Jail today.

In an interaction with inmates, he learnt about problems being faced by those prisoners, who wanted to avail parole. He asked Jail Superintendent Ashish Kapoor to improve the process of allowing visitors and the waiting areas.

He also visited the Transit Camp and interacted with internees. Kapoor said he was directed to send details of individual internees with regard to their conviction, completion of their sentence and status of the correspondence with Ministry of Home Affairs with regard to their repatriation. The ADGP assured them that all efforts would be made for their early repatriation to their respective countries.

Chaudhary also inspected working of the administrative and jail staff, besides control room and medical facilities.

The ADGP further directed the Jail Superintendent to make improvements in high security cells.

Meanwhile, Chaudhary was given a Guard of Honour on his arrival at the Amritsar Central Jail.
