A minor dispute over parking took an ugly turn when a man allegedly opened fire in the air in Ranjit Enclave, Loharaka road, here yesterday. The police have booked two persons, identified as Manjit Singh and Sukhjinder Singh, both residents of the same locality.

Complainant Palak Khanna, who claims to have been assaulted by the accused, told the Sadar police that Lovedeep Singh, a resident of Mohni Park, along with his family friend had come to her residence. He parked his car in the street outside the house.

“Meanwhile, Manjit Singh also came in his car and got infuriated after finding a car parked in the street. He started shouting. When my mother Sangeeta Khanna told him that she didn’t have the keys of that car, Manjit created a ruckus and also called his family and other residents of the area,” she alleged.

According to the complainant, Lovedeep, after hearing the noise, came out and tried to move his car but the accused started fighting with him. When she tried to intervene, he allegedly pushed her away, inflicting her with injuries. She alleged Sukhjinder Singh took out his pistol and opened fire in the air.

Sadar SHO Sukhbir Singh said a case under Sections 336, 323, 506 and 34 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act had been registered against Manjit and Sukhjinder. No arrest has been made so far as the matter is under investigation, he added.
