AMRITSAR: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to provide value education to students studying in different schools, affiliated to the board through Ramakrishna Mission.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to provide value education to students studying in different schools, affiliated to the board through Ramakrishna Mission. The aim of the programme is to promote value education among the students.

The programme called as "Awakened Citizen Programme" has been prepared for both students and teachers. It is a three-year graded "Values Education Programme" for the students of Classes VI, VII and VIII. The board has kept the programme optional for the students and the schools desirous to opt for the programme can visit the website www.theawakenedcitizen.org for more details.

As per the arrangement, the study material for developing such values shall be provided by the Ramakrishna Mission to the schools. The programme is aimed at developing lifelong values, embibing them into enlightening students and understanding of the universal values.

Teachers will be trained under the Teacher Training Module for imparting students with value education under the plan.

Principal, Stalwarts World School, Manisha Dhanuka, said, “Yes such information has been received. This is a noble idea but instead of having it for classes VI, VII, VIII it should begin at an early stage. It is good that it has been kept optional. We will see how it has to be implemented.”
