MP Shwait Malik, president of the state BJP, has accused the Capt Amarinder government of adding to the woes of industry in the state. In a press statement, Malik said industry in the state had been struggling for existence. He said that instead of providing subsidised power, the tariff had been increased four times in the past one and a half year.

“Major steps are required to revive the industry in Punjab. After one and a half year, industrialists come for meeting with CM with great expectations but return distressed,” he said.

“The government machinery has been harassing the industrialists by slapping on them reassessment of VAT cases which are six years old. When the GST is implemented, why the government has been digging old graves? It will involve corruption and harassment to industrialists. It is a mere joke with innocent people as the government is trying to squeeze people rather than helping them to improve,” he added.
