The city received light showers following high-velocity winds last night. However, no major accident or damage has been reported. The temperature in the region dipped after change in the weather conditions this morning. Residents got respite from the scorching heat and enjoyed the changed weather. The morning hours were quite pleasant but the day temperature increased again. The evening was also pleasant in the city due to clouds in the sky.

Earlier, the residents have been facing scorching heat for the past some days. The life in the city was thrown out of gear due to the heat. The residents preferred to stay inside and roads and markets could be seen deserted.

Jagmeet Singh, a resident, said, “Due to the high temperature during the past some days, I have changed my schedule. I avoid going to the market during day time. The day temperature is rising again.”

“The people who earn their bread and butter with physical labour are the major victims of the heat wave. The daytime is hard upon the labourers, farmers, rickshaw-pullers and industrial workers. The social workers should come forward to arrange ‘chhabeels’ at roadsides during these days”, said Varun Kumar, a social activist.
