The festival of fragrance (flower show), organised by Guru Nanak Dev University, concluded with the commitment of another Golden Jublee Basant Bahar fest next year, on Thursday.

In the flowers, plants and rangoli competitions in different categories, Malkit Singh Gill from Preet Nagar won the flower and plants competitions in seven categories by securing the first position. Similarly, the second place was secured by BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, in four categories. The third place went to Royals Nursery, Amritsar. Layalpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, got the fourth position in various categories of flowers and plants.

In the competition of rangoli using natural flowers, Ishtpreet Singh stood first and Harleen Kaur and Simerjeet Kaur both bagged the second position. Similarly, the first place in artificial rangoli went to Surjit Singh, and Kawal Jeet, Shelley, Kanwal Jeet Kaur and Akrashta remained second collectively.

On this occasion, gardner Ramsamjh and his team, who worked hard at the nursery of Guru Nanak Dev University, were honoured. In different categories, certificates were also given to the children and others who participated in the flower exhibition.

Prof Dr SS Behl, Dean Students Welfare, presided over the valedictory function and gave away prizes and certificates to the winners. Earlier, Dr Brijmohan Bharatwaj, SDO Horticulture, PWD, Ludhiana, was the speaker in a seminar.
