Amritsar, July 23

An international nagar kirtan will begin from Pakistan’s Nanakana Sahib from August 1, 2019, to mark Guru Nanak Dev 550th Prakash Utsav. The SGPC on Tuesday released the shabad to be sung along the nagar kirtan. The shabad has been sung by noted Bollywood playback singer Sukhwinder Singh.

Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, president of SGPC, released the shabad in the presence of singer and members of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. Sukhwinder, while expressing his gratitude towards the SGOPC officials, said, “I feel extremely elated and lucky to have sung the shabad as it reminds of my spiritual journey. At the age of nine, I first sang the shabad at Gurudwara Manji Saheb Diwan Hall at the historic Golden Temple. It was for the first time that rendition of this shabad by Bhai Gurdas, made me realise the spiritual energy of Guru Granth Sahib. Of all my professional and personal achievements, my service to my guru, the almighty with this shabad is what I cherish the most.”

He was also honoured by Bhai Longowal with a miniature model of Golden Temple and siropa.

The international nagar kirtan will commence from August 1 from Nanakana Saheb in Pakistan and tour the world till November 1, 2019.
