Stolen bikes, fake documents seized, three arrested

AMRITSAR: With the arrest of three persons, including a woman, the police today claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle lifters who used to sell the same after forging documents.

With the arrest of three persons, including a woman, the police today claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle lifters who used to sell the same after forging documents. Fake stamps of the regional transport office have been seized from their possession.

Those arrested have been identified as Tejinder Singh, a resident of Boparai Baaj Singh, his wife Kanwaljit Kaur and Jatinder Singh of Mir Shah Mohalla in Majitha. One of their accomplices, identified as Rajinder Singh, alias Raju, brother of Tejinder Singh, is yet to be arrested.

ADCP, City-II, Lakhbir Singh said 10 bikes, seven fake registration certificates and 21 fake stamps had been seized. Tejinder, the kingpin, has been facing similar cases at several police stations. He has already been declared a proclaimed offender by the local court.

He said the accused had been running their activities from their rented accommodation in Baba Budha Singh Avenue. The police got a tip-off that that they had been stealing motorcycles and selling the same on the basis of fake documents.

A case under Sections 379, 411, 414, 467, 468, 471, 473 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against them at the Sadar police station.
