Students faced inconvenience today in getting question papers during the supplementary examinations of plus two at 16 centres in the district.

Supplementary (re-appear) examinations of all subjects of Class XII were conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).

A local resident, Sanjeev Kapoor, said his daughter could not attempt her elective English examination of the finals of Class XII well.

The centre for her re-appear examination was at Saraswati Girls Senior Secondary School inside the BK Dutt gate.

About 20 minutes after the exam started at 11 am, invigilators declared that they had not received the question paper and could not take her exam.

He said his family and his daughter in particular were crestfallen at the turn of events, as it could jeopardise her educational career for a year. “She has already taken admission in first year of graduation at BBK DAV College for Women and as per the norms, she will have to submit the certificate of passing the previous class before she would be able to appear in the next examination.”

He added that his family approached the local PSEB office which contacted the Controller of the examination centre, but she said she had received an empty envelop. Eventually, they submitted an application at the office of the District Education Office (DEO) Secondary, who assured them to take up the matter with the head office at Mohali.

Similarly, DAV Senior Secondary and Ashoka Senior Secondary Schools also intimated to have received less number of question papers than the number of students there were.

PSEB manager Pawandeep Singh said complaints of these schools were brought to the notice of the head office which dispatched officials with more copies of question papers from Mohali yesterday.
