Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to offer internships for students under Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018’ have been hailed by the students in the city.

In his radio talk ‘Mann ki baat’ PM Modi had announced internships for students to join the ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018’ in their summer vacations. It is an opportunity for those who want to work for the society, contribute positively and bring about a change. The participating students will also be awarded credit points by University Grant Commission (UGC). The city students have called this move inspirational to keep the surroundings and make most of it.

Aastha Sharma, a university student said, “It is a great move in long-run. It will be a great learning experience for the participants.”

The internships shall be offered only to college students, however, it has also inspired the junior students at the city schools.

Tanisha Khanna, a student of Class X at DAV Public School, said, “It’s a very innovative idea to make summer vacations an ideal one. Moreover, as youngsters, it motivates us to keep our surroundings clean.”

The internships programme will be offered by Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

Laxmi Makkar, a NCC cadet, said, “As NCC cadets, we are actively involved in the keeping our surrounding clean. Apart from college students, this will help other students to have a taste of services rendered by the NCC cadets.”

Gurisha Dogra, a Class XII student at The Senior Study II, said, “The move will create right kind of awareness among the masses.”
