Two booked for duping jewellery worth Rs 4.7 cr

AMRITSAR: The city police have booked two persons for allegedly defrauding different jewellers of the holy city by decamping with gold ornaments worth Rs 4.

The city police have booked two persons for allegedly defrauding different jewellers of the holy city by decamping with gold ornaments worth Rs 4.7 crore. Though a case has been registered but the police are clueless the fradusters.

The accused were identified as Parminder Singh, alias Sunny, and Paramjit Singh of Tej Nagar area on Sultawind road here. A case under Sections 420, 406 and 120-B of the IPC was registered against them.

Sham Sundar, one of the victims, stated to the police that he owned a jewellery shop at Sarvarpura on Sultanwind road. He said the accused took gold ornaments from him and sold the same in other state. He said they gave him the selling amount and he gave the accused their share of commission. He alleged that on October 1 they again took gold ornaments from him but did not return.

Later, he said, he came to know that the accused also cheated Rajiv Kumar, Bhupinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Premdeep Singh in similar fashion. They took a total of over 13 kg of gold ornaments worth Rs 4.7 crore.
