Vocational education need of the hour: Academicians

City schools under CBSE feel that vocational education is the need of the hour, aims to prepare students for a specific profession. The board has come up with new set of skill courses in this session for classes IX to XII for which many schools have expressed their willingness.

Artificial intelligence for classes IX and X and yoga, early childhood care and education, has been introduced for classes XI and XII.

Besides, an array of courses like retail, introduction to financial markets, beauty and wellness, introduction to tourism media, food production, banking, insurance, food nutrition and dietetics, fashion studies being currently offered among others.

The institutions are supposed to send an application for introducing courses to the board till May 31. The educationists in the city think that such courses have helped students over the years for better opportunities.

Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said, “We are starting with financial management, artificial intelligence and yoga for students. All our students, including the special ones, have been able to fare well in skill education.”

“It has been felt globally that skill education has played key role in preparing their students for job market. Early, introduction of practical subjects will help achieve clarity to crave proper path for selves. ”

Practical, theoretical knowledge of all such courses are being provided by the board.

Sangeeta Singh, Principal, Delhi Public School, will organise a special workshop on artificial intelligence for her school teachers. She feels that courses such as yoga, early childhood care and education will help children in long run.

“We are keen on having all these courses for our kids. The workshop for teachers is going to be conducted soon. Moreover, a course like early childhood care and education will open multiple avenues for kids abroad. This particular course will also help future educators studying our schools,” added Singh.

Neera Sharma, Principal, DAV Public School, said, “We are offering IT among others courses. I have seen my students keenly getting involved in vocational studies over the years. We are considering artificial intelligence for students. Teachers are being sent for training as well.”

Senior Study II School is also offering a platter of courses to give wings to their students. They are offering artificial intelligence, security, retail among others.
