23-year-old dies of drug overdose

BATHINDA: A 23-year-old boy allegedly died of drug overdose at Sekhu village on Sunday in the district. A case has been registered against a commission agent of the same village under Section 304 on the statement of the victim’s paternal uncle.

A 23-year-old boy allegedly died of drug overdose at Sekhu village on Sunday in the district. A case has been registered against a commission agent of the same village under Section 304 on the statement of the victim’s paternal uncle.

The deceased has been identified as Lovepreet Singh. This is the third death due to drug overdose in the Rama Mandi area.

Deceased’s paternal uncle Darshan Singh said Lovepreet’s father Kulwant Singh had died 16 years ago and three years ago his mother also passed away due to illness.

His two elder sisters are married and he was staying alone in his house.

His cousin Kala Singh said Lovepreet had been taking drugs for the past two years. They even got him admitted to the drug rehabilitation centre, but he did not get his treatment done.

On August 26, Tarsem Singh of Bangi Nihal Singhwala had died due to drug overdose and on July 6, Tejinder Singh of Kanakwal village died due to the same reason in Rama area.
