BATHINDA: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh recently felicitated the state netball team, which won a gold medal for the first time in the national championship held in Bengaluru from March 23 to 27.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh recently felicitated the state netball team, which won a gold medal for the first time in the national championship held in Bengaluru from March 23 to 27.

After the team returned from Chandigarh, the Punjab Netball Association addressed a press conference at the state netball academy at Maiserkhana village here on Sunday. The team was honoured at Chief Minister’s office in Chandigarh.

It was shared by executive members of the Punjab Netball Association at the press conference. They said the Chief Minister lauded the players, coaches and members of the association on this feat.

Kapil, chief secretary, Punjab Netball Association, said the state had won the 36th Senior National Netball Championship held in Bengaluru.

He said Punjab had defeated Haryana in the final to bag a gold medal.

He informed the Chief Minister that a state-of-the-art academy came up at Maiserkhana where players were trained to perform well at national and international platforms.

Recently, the 31st National Sub-Junior Netball Championship (U-19) 2018-2019 was also organised at the academy.
