DEO placed under suspension

District Education Officer (Elementary) Gurcharan Singh has been placed under suspension. The order, passed by the Secretary, Education Department, Krishan Kumar, was issued today.

Although the reason behind it is not clear, it is being said that the department took a serious note of the fact that the promotion cases of head teachers had not been processed on time for the district.

Sources in the District Education Department added that Gurcharan Singh could not attend a meeting called by the Secretary, Education Department, under the ‘Padho Punjab, Badho Punjab’ campaign in September and the reason given for his absence was that he was to be present for a hearing in a court case.
