BARNALA: The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has sought applications for the prestigious Gandhi Peace Prize from qualified and experienced persons who have contributed immensely to society.

The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has sought applications for the prestigious Gandhi Peace Prize from qualified and experienced persons who have contributed immensely to society.

Referring to the letter received from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Barnala Deputy Commissioner Dharam Pal Gupta said this prestigious award would be given on the 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He said the award carried Rs 1 crore cash and a citation. The committee, headed by the Prime Minister, would select the eligible candidates or organisations, he added.

The DC said interested candidates or organisations might have contributed to the social, economic and political sectors by following the path of non-violence shown by Mahatma Gandhi.

He said the candidates or organisations could get additional information on the website of Ministry of Culture, Government of India ‘www.indiaculture.nic.in’.
