Inmate dies at Central Jail

BATHINDA: An inmate, undergoing term in an attempt to murder case, died at the Central Jail at Gobindpura village on Monday night.

An inmate, undergoing term in an attempt to murder case, died at the Central Jail at Gobindpura village on Monday night.

After getting information, the Nathana police station took the body of the deceased in custody and sent it to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Jail superintendent Sukhwinder Singh Sahota said the deceased had been identified as Ajmer Singh (85), a resident of Kotli Khurd village.

The Maur police had registered a case against him for attempt to murder and the court, on December 19, 2017, had pronounced three-year sentence, he added.

He also stated that a few months ago, he suffered a paralysis attack and he was under treatment. On Monday, his health deteriorated and he died on Monday night.

The body was handed over to his family after post-mortem. This post-mortem process was video-graphed. — TNS
