Bathinda, January 14

Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate from Maur constituency, Jagdev Singh Kamalu, today addressed a public meeting.

Taking a dig at the SAD-BJP ruling alliance and its candidates for the Assembly elections, Kamalu said, “The SAD leaders are harping onto the developmental works undertaken by the government in the past 10 years but the truth is that the government ruined the state in the name of development.”

Addressing meetings in Kutiwaal Kalan, Thamangarh, Burj Manshahia and Bugra, Kamalu said while both SAD and Congress were asking for votes claiming they would change the state, however, the reality was that “both parties had indeed changed Punjab but not for good.”

“During the reign of both parties, the graph of unemployment, drug abuse and other social ills went up. People of Delhi are a happy lot now since AAP has changed the city for good. In Delhi, the AAP government focused on health, education and providing basic amenities to the residents. The party will do the same in Punjab,” he said.

Kamalu added that the “anti-people” and “anti-welfare” policies adopted by the SAD-BJP alliance in the state were the reasons behind a large number of people extending their support to AA.

Jassi Jasraj to campaign

Singer-turned-politician Jassi Jasraj will campaign at Ballianwali village in the constituency to give boost to Kamalu’s campaign.

Jassi, who is now the state vice-president of the Aam Aadmi Party, had himself faced a lot of opposition from party workers and leaders when he was fielded from Bathinda in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He was pitted against SAD’s Harsimrat Badal and Congress-PPP’s Manpreet Singh Badal. Fearing opposition in public from AAP workers, Jassi didn’t campaign much ahead of Lok Sabha elections.
