Mansa, June 11

As part of the state government’s project of completion of widening, repairs and laying work of link roads in the state, a team of the Mandi Board, Mansa, on Monday reclaimed pieces of lands along the Sada Singh Wala-Kotli Kalan-Maur road by removing encroachments.

The Mandi Board was assisted by the police in the task to handle any unforeseen turn of events and protests by farmers.

The board reclaimed its land, which had been encroached upon by farmers, who had included the land in their fields and had been cultivating it for the past at least 30-35 years.

Mandi Board SDO Daya Singh said some farmers at Kotli Kalan village had encroached upon the board’s land by extending the limits of their fields.

The SDO added that the encroachment was posing hindrance in the work of widening of the Sada Singh Wala-Kotli Kalan-Maur road. He added that the encroachment had also delayed the work.

Also present at the site were Tehsildar Sunil Kumar, JE Arjan Singh, Amit Kumar and others.
