Miscreants snatch bag containing Rs 11 lakh

BATHINDA: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a bag containing around Rs11 lakh from two employees on the Bathinda-Barnala highway in Rampura on Monday.

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a bag containing around Rs11 lakh from two employees on the Bathinda-Barnala highway in Rampura on Monday.

The employees were taking the amount from a Relience petrol pump located on the highway. After getting information, the police immediately swung into action and started a probe into the incident.

Petrol pump official Sanjeev Jethi said as per routine, employee Balkaran Singh, a resident of Regent Company, picked up the bag containing the amount, which was collected from the sale of diesel and petrol, from the pump at 1.50 pm.

He said Balkaran had gone only around 100 m from the pump, when two persons came on a motorcycle and snatched the bag. Jethi said the miscreants fled toward the Barnala side.

He said one of the miscreants was wearing a helmet, while another had covered his face with a cloth.

SP (D) Swaran Singh Khanna, CIA in-charge Tejinder Pal Singh and police officers from the Rampura police station reached the spot and started a probe.

The incident
