The local Dunes Club has courted controversy with a member of its executive committee writing a letter to Deputy Commissioner Ghansham Thori and ADC General Rahul Chaba demanding a probe into the irregularities and working of the club’s caterer.

After the issue was raised, ADC Rahul Chaba called a meeting of the executive members of the club on Tuesday, which is expected to be a heated affair. One of the executive members of the club, advocate Ajitinder Singh Chahal, has also raised serious allegations on the working of the club.

In the letter, Chaba has alleged that the caterer is authorised to hold or book a party in the club’s kitty hall but not in the family hall or the front lawn. But it has been witnessed that the caterer has been holding functions in both the family hall and on the front lawn of the club.

The caterer is even booking parties, functions and marriages of non-members of the club, which is also against the norms. He has alleged that permanent tents have been set up on the lawns and loud music is played by the DJ till late at night. Chahal had claimed that the caterer is not authorised to invite or entertain any of his private customers in the club, but it has been seen that he entertains his customers daily without charging them guest fees.

He also alleged that the caterer is using the steam bathroom as a store and has locked it for the last six months despite the fact that a new store room was constructed to cater to the needs of the caterer. Chahal has also raised questions about the office-bearers of the club. After receiving the complaint, ADC Rahul Chaba said he has called a meeting on Tuesday and could comment only after this.
