Mansa, July 20

The water level in Ghaggar has continuously been rising in Mansa district, leaving villagers of around 50 villages in Budladha subdivision and in Sardulgarh subdivision worried.

Officials of the district administration are keeping a close watch on the situation. Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyat visited the Chandipur bridge on the Ghaggar river and took stock of the situation.

She said, “The Water level at the Chandipur bridge is still below the danger mark. But, we are taking preventive measures.” The DC appealed to residents that there is no fear of flood at present. She urged them not to panic.

A flood control room has been set up and officials have been directed to provide each and every update to the district administration officials.

The administration has directed the officials of both subdivisions not to leave the station.

Moreover, they have been directed to keep their mobile switch on round the clock.

In 2010, the Sardulgarh area of Mansa district had witnessed floods and it created a huge loss to property. Memories of 2010 are still fresh in the mind of villages due to which they are worried. — TNS
