Bathinda, January 11

Teachers of various schools, who are attending a week-long training camp, today submitted a memorandum to Amarjit Kaur Kotfatta, principal of In-Service Training Centre situated on Mall Road.

Through their memorandum, the teachers demanded such training camps must be organised before December so that classes don’t get interrupted in the first quarter of the year. They also argued several teachers were already engaged in non-academic activities due to election-related duties,

The teachers said this was the most crucial month when the teachers are required to be in schools to help the students in revising their curriculum ahead of the annual examinations, which are scheduled to be held in February end and March.

Training camps are being organised at five centres in the city and will continue till January 17. As per the orders of the Education Department, the teachers who are teaching students of Classes VI to X have compulsory to attend these camps.

Responding to the request made by the teachers, Kotfatta said the camps were being held across the state as per the orders received from the Education Department. She assured the teachers that from next academic session onwards, their suggestions pertaining to the schedule of the training camps would be considered.
