Bathinda: Eight persons have been booked for attack on policemen at a Naka near Jodhpur Pakhar village. A case has been registered under Sections 353, 186, 323, 248 and 506 of the IPC and Excise Act at the Maur police station. Inspector Rashal Singh has lodged a complaint that Kaka Singh, Satpal Singh, Darshan Singh, Sukhpal Singh, Sunny, Gurpreet Singh and Kala Singh, residents of Charnarthal village were coming on four motorcycles with illicit liquor. When policemen tried to stop them at a naka at Jodhpur Pakhar, they assaulted policemen and tore their uniform. The police have arrested Kaka Singh, Satpal Singh and Darshan Singh with 120 bottles of illicit liquor while others are absconding. Inspector Rashpal Singh said they would arrest the other accused soon. TNS
Five held with illicit liquor
Bathinda: The Kotwali police arrested three persons with 16 boxes of illicit liquor from a white-coloured Exylo vehicle on Santpura Road while one of the accused has been absconding. The three accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh and Daljeet Singh of Deep Nagar and Satpal Singh of Bangi Nagar, while Gurdit Singh, a resident of Ablu, who is owner of the car, is absconding. The Nathana police have arrested Gurjeet Singh, a resident of Bhucho Khurad village, with 12 bottles of illicit liquor from Gobindpura village. The Sadar Rampura police have arrested Sewak Singh, a resident of Kararwala village, with 60 litres of ‘lahan’ and 10 bottles of illicit liquor from Krarwala village. The Dyalpura police have recovered 132 bottles of illicit liquor from a Swift Desire car and a case has been registered under the Excise Act.TNS
