‘Yeh Zindagi’ portrays senior citizens’ struggle

PATIALA:A play, ‘Yeh Zindagi’, was staged by Kalakriti on the fourth day of the ongoing 4th Norah Richards Theatre Festival.

A play, ‘Yeh Zindagi’, was staged  by Kalakriti  on  the fourth day of the ongoing 4th Norah Richards Theatre Festival. The festival was organised by the Sarthak Rang Manch, Patiala, in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, and dedicated to Ajmer Singh Aulakh. The play was  based on Chitra Mudgal’s famous Hindi novel ‘Gilli Guddu’ and was directed by Parminderpal Kaur. It made attempts to focus on aspects of how a senior citizen belonging to a particular class needs to go through difficulties in family life in society.

Ravi Bhushan, Parminderpal Kaur and Surjit Singh played the main characters in the play. Chandan Baloch, Roop Kaur, Charu Sharma, MM Sial, Vicky, Gaurav Sharma and Nirmal played the other characters.

Music of Harjit Guddu and lights of Satinder and Gaurav made a special contribution to the play.

Director of the festival Dr Inderjit Kaur Goldy thanked the audience.

Dr Inderjit Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, Punjabi University Patiala; Pammi Bai; Tejinder Pal Singh Sandhu; Dr Kamlesh Uppal; Mohinder Sekhon; Yogesh Sagar; Avtar Singh Arora; Pran Sabbarwal; Dr Lakshmi Narayan Bhikhi and Gurnam Singh Hackida were among those others present.

On the last day of the festival tomorrow, a Hindi drama, ‘Pukar’, directed by Gaurav Bhat and written by Tapan Bhatt from Jaipur (Rajasthan), will be presented.
