A local court has acquitted a juvenile of molestation charge in a 2017 case.

The juvenile was earlier convicted and sent to Juvenile Home in August this year by the Juvenile Court.

The boy, who filed an appeal against the order of the Juvenile Court, was today acquitted by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Poonam R Joshi.

In a complaint to the police on December 24, 2017, a minor girl had stated that around 5 pm, she, along with her maternal uncle, was going to purchase some items from a nearby shop in Sector 52. In the meantime, three boys, including the juvenile, molested her by holding her hand and dragged her to some distance. The boys also made obscene gestures and used abusive language.

When she and her uncle opposed them, they thrashed her uncle and threatened her that they would kidnap her and commit wrong thing with her.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case and apprehended the boy.

During the trial, defence counsel Ishaan Dogra argued that the juvenile had been falsely implicated in the case and there was no direct evidence against him.

After hearing the arguments, the court acquitted the juvenile of the charges.

Two other boys arrested in the case were acquitted by the ADJ court in 2018.
