3 months on, police clueless on abduction of baby from hospital

PATIALA:Over three months after an unknown woman stole a newborn from Mata Kaushalya Hospital, the police are still groping in the dark.

Over three months after an unknown woman stole a newborn from Mata Kaushalya Hospital, the police are still groping in the dark. Despite the availability of a footage from the cameras installed nearby, the police have not been able to trace the woman, whose face is visible but not identified, till date.

According to the police, Mawi Kalan village resident Sandeep Kaur had given birth to a boy on January 7. In her statement to the police, Sandeep Kaur stated that a woman approached her on January 8 at around 2.30 pm. She spoke to her in a friendly manner and took away the child on the pretext of playing with him. “Suddenly, she fled with my child, following which we approached the police,” she had stated.

The police said the accused was visible till the parking of the hospital. The police have registered a case under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the IPC against the unknown woman.The police said the accused woman was visible till the parking of the hospital.
