On a complaint lodged by district mining officer Rajiv Kumar, the police have registered an FIR against nine persons for carrying out illegal sand mining in different villages of Pinjore.

The police said the accused had been identified as Naresh, Moni, Sukha, Bahadur, Darshan, Pali, Bulta, Satta and Amril. They were booked for illegal sand mining at the revenue estate of Kiratpur, Charnia, Kheravvali and Jholuvvala villages in Pinjore.

According to the police, a team of the Mining Department inspected the areas under Pinjore last month. A report was submitted by the field staff to the mining officer last week in which it was mentioned that the illegal practice of sand mining was continuing in these villages.

“On the basis of a complaint, we have registered a case against nine persons under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 21 of the Mines and Minerals Act. A probe has been initiated in the matter. The machinery used in the process will be recovered soon,” said an investigating officer.
