A summer camp for students was organised at Ankur School, Sector 14, Chandigarh. More than 155 students took part in the camp. Students were given lessons in freestyle and folk dances, music, aerobics, art and craft and sports. Cooking classes were also held for budding chefs. The students also took keen interest in attending the personality development and drama classes. The summer camp culminated with the exhibition of art and craft items made by the students and a cultural programme.

Guru Nanak Public School

Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, Chandigarh, celebrated World Environment Day. Students made posters on topics such as save earth, ban plastics, save ozone layer, save water and grow more trees. Awareness was created about conservation of natural resources and use of biodegradable substances. Principal Gurnam Kaur Grewal motivated students to be the change, go green and make every day World Environment Day.

Shivalik Public School, Mohali

Shivalik Public School, Phase VI, Mohali, organised its annual INSET programme for around 300 teachers from all branches of Shivalik Public School located in Chandigarh, Nawan Shehar, Patiala and Mohali. Harpreet, Principal, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Chandigarh, emphasised the need for an inclusive education. Dr Manisha, CEO of the Mind the Mind Organisation, created awareness about gender sensitisation. Dr Anupama Mankotya from Oxford University Press conducted an interactive learning session on “Being an effective teacher for the 21st century.” Sandeep Sharma from Ratna Sagar Publications emphasised the need to “learn, unlearn and relearn”. Neera Chopra, a renowned academic analyst and consultant with the CBSE, focussed on the need and techniques of developing a skilful curriculum. Jeevan D’ Cunha, Director, People Learning and Capability Development, Global Education Systems, talked about the “Dynamics of classroom management and experiential curriculum”. Nandita Mukherjee from Macmillian Publications discussed the “New age teaching methodologies”. A session on STEM education for global leadership was the highlight of the final day. The programme concluded on an inspiring note by DS Bedi, Director, Shivalik Public School.

Gian Jyoti Global School

Gian Jyoti Global School, Mohali, is providing hands-on experience to students of Classes X and XII in their labs so that they can understand their subject in depth. The school is providing exposure to its students in their science labs, which include physics, chemistry, biology and Atal Tinkering Lab (RoboGian).

Brilliance World, Panchkula

Brilliance World School, Sector 12, Panchkula, is conducting a summer camp for children in two batches. The first batch is till June 15 and the second batch is from June 16 to June 30. “A range of activities such as swimming, skating, taekwondo, dance, music, animation, lawn tennis, pottery, art and craft, personality development, cricket and yoga are being taught to the students. “Students can select for any number of activities from all these,” said Shyam Sunder, chairman, Brilliance World School.

Gurukul Global , Mani Majra

Students of Classes III to X participated in a cultural exchange programme of ISA. They exchanged the most popular recipes of India with National Model Science School, Kathmandu, who provided them the popular recipes of their country through e-mail. A food mela was organised wherein students and their parents put up stalls displaying Nepalese cuisines. Similarly, students of the partner school at Nepal, put up stalls exhibiting Indian cuisine in their food mela. Through videos and Facebook live, the complete mela proceedings were shared with each other by the two schools. An inter-house display board competition on the theme “Nepal” was organised. Students took part in the international folk dance competition, showcasing the folk dances of the partner country and their own. Videos of the dance competition were exchanged among the partner schools and uploaded on YouTube and Facebook. TNS
