BSF organises run to remember its martyrs

CHANDIGARH:The first ever ‘Run for Martyrs’ organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) here today witnessed an enthusiastic response with over 1,200 persons from all age groups participating in the event.

The first ever ‘Run for Martyrs’ organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) here today witnessed an enthusiastic response with over 1,200 persons from all age groups participating in the event.

Apart from the Central Armed Police Forces personnel, students and local residents took part in the 5-km run that was flagged off from the Sukhna Lake by Suresh Arora, Director General of Police, Punjab. 

The run was organised in two categories. In the men’s category, the first prize was bagged by Ravinder Kumar Tiwari, with Varinder Singh and Mukesh Rawat being the runners-up. Sumit Kumar Gorai, Sukhjinder Singh and Harjodhveer Singh were in the third place. Seema Devi came first in the women’s category followed by Prabjot Kaur and Nangi Ravi as the runners-up. Suraj Bamniya, Mosa N Lotha and Amit Patel came third. The winners in both categories were awarded cash prizes of Rs 51,000, Rs 21,000 and Rs 11,000, respectively.

While lauding the efforts of the BSF, the Governor said that this would go a long way in inculcating a sense of patriotism amongst the future 

generation. He also reiterated the commitment of the government towards the security forces and the welfare of martyrs’ families.
