Ambala, July 16

The police have booked the driver of the bus that was involved in an accident on the National Highway last night. Two youths were killed and 15 others were injured in an accident involving a car and a bus near Shastri Colony on the National Highway in Ambala Cantonment last night.

The suspect has been identified as Mahender Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh of Punjab. The deceased were identified as Rajat (21) and Aalok (22), residents of Karnal. The driver was produced before a court, which granted him bail.

In his complaint to the police, Rajat’s uncle Jasbir Singh, a resident of Ambala Cantonment, alleged that Rajat and his friend Aalok, residents of CHD City, Uchana of Karnal district, had come to meet him on Monday evening. Around 9:30 pm, they left for shopping at the NH-1 shopping complex in their car, while Jasbir also took his car and went for shopping with them.

Jasbir alleged that the bus driver was driving recklessly. The bus hit the car in which Rajat and Aalok were travelling in. The victims were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment, where doctors declared them brought dead.

A case was registered at the Parao police station on Tuesday.
