Chandigarh, November 17

A local court on Saturday sentenced a cab driver to four-year imprisonment for sexually harassing a minor boy in 2017.

The convict, Amrik Singh (45), has been held guilty under Sections 8 and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The matter dates back to August 21, 2017. The victim, who was then 17-year-old then, had booked a cab to go home from a market. He sat on the passenger seat alongside the driver. The convict started touching him inappropriately. He objected to it and managed to get the car stopped. He called up his father and narrated the incident.

Later, he approached the Sector 19 police station and got a complaint registered. The complainant told the police that he had knowledge about ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ and could thus make out that the touch by the cab driver was inappropriate.
