A mishap was averted on the road leading to Darpan City here this morning when a school bus with 15 children on board skidded due to the poor condition of the road.

The incident took place when the bus was going to Darpan City to pick up children for Chandigarh. Monica and Raman Kumar, residents of Darpan City, said their children were students of a school in Chandigarh and around 8 am, the bus was coming to pick them up.

Suddenly the bus skidded on the road and tilted slightly. However, children had a narrow escape as the bus did not overturn. The children were taken out of the bus by people. Harpreet Singh and Rakesh Bhardwaj, residents of the area, said on August 21, they had complained to the MC about the bad shape of the road. They said a sewer pipeline was laid in the area about a year and a half ago, but the road was not repaired after that. Rajesh Sharma, Executive Officer of the council, said due to heavy rain, there was some hindrance in the repair work. He said the road would be repaired soon. — OC
