CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Congress paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary at a function held at the Congress Bhawan at Sector 35 today.

The Chandigarh Congress paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary at a function held at the Congress Bhawan at Sector 35 today.

Former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, Pardeep Chhabra, president Chandigarh Congress, councillors and senior leaders of the party were present on the occasion.

Before that the leaders also distributed fruits at the Kushtha Ashrama. While paying tribute to Rajiv Gandhi, Bansal said it was Rajiv Gandhi who was instrumental in bringing the digital revolution and making India modern and worked all his life for the eradication of poverty.

Chhabra remembered Rajiv Gandhi as a great visionary leader who led the nation to become one of the most modern nations of the world. Chhabra said it was Rajiv Gandhi who initiated the IT revolution for which the BJP was falsely 

claiming now.

Chhabra also remembered the former Prime Minister for his role in strengthening the Panchayati Raj institutions and granting voting rights to the youth to strengthen the democratic institutions in the country. The members also observed the day as Anti- terrorism Day.
