Cop beaten up at Mauli Jagran

CHANDIGARH: A constable of the UT police was allegedly thrashed by four persons on Holi at Mauli Jagran village.



Chandigarh, March 22

A constable of the UT police was allegedly thrashed by four persons on Holi at Mauli Jagran village.

According to the police, Constable Sandeep Kumar, who was posted as a driver of a PCR vehicle, reported that he had gone to attend an accident spot at the EWS Colony, Phase II, Mauli Jagran. He found some persons creating a ruckus there. As he stopped them, Ramesh Pal and three other persons started quarrelling with him. They manhandled the constable and also tore his uniform.

The constable then informed the police about the incident, following which additional police force was rushed to the spot.

A case under Sections 323, 353 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against Ramesh Pal and three others at the Mauli Jagran police station. Ramesh Pal was arrested in the case. —TNS
