CU to give scholarships worth Rs 10 cr

Chandigarh University (CU) will provide scholarships worth Rs 10 crore to new students in the upcoming session. The university here has launched a career guidance facility for new applicants as well.

Dr RS Bawa, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university, today inaugurated an online professional career counselling facility for students of the Malwa region. Under the facility, any student of Class X, XII or graduation will be able to avail professional career guidance after undergoing a psychometric test free of cost.

The VC said: “The students will avail this facility free of cost throughout the year where a team of experts would be available online to counsel them.”

The VC launched the Chandigarh University Scholarship and Admission Test (CU-SAT-2018) and said: “It would be a scholarship-based test conducted online in May-June 2018 for undergraduate programmes for the new session.”

He said CU-SAT 2018 would offer 100 per cent scholarship to first 1 per cent toppers.

Officials said over 5,000 students from various parts of the Malwa region, including 650 students from Patiala and its neighbourhood, were studying at the university.

They said over 480 students of engineering, management and hotel management from Malwa managed to get offer letters from top MNCs during campus placements in 2017.
