The police have arrested a drug peddler with 160 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 2.5 lakh, here. The suspect has been identified as Amandeep Singh, alias Laddi, a resident of Khadoor Sahib village, Tarn Taran district.

Harpreet Singh, AIG (STF), Ropar, said following a tip-off, Laddi was arrested from near Dara Studio in Phase 6 here.

“He came to Mohali to supply drugs to his customers at Badhmajra colony. We recovered 160 grams of heroin and Rs 2.5 lakh from him,” said AIG Harpreet.

He said during preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed that he entered into drug trade after his family lost everything in a murder case registered against his father and brother at Tarn Taran in 2011.

“The suspect claimed that during the trial of the case, they lost everything, including their house. He entered the world of crime to earn quick bucks,” said AIG Harpreet. A case under Sections 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against Laddi. The suspect was produced before a court, which sent him to two-day police remand.

Man arrested with ganja

Chandigarh: One person has been arrested by the UT police with ganja. According to the police, the suspect, Shiv Parsad, a native of Chhattisgarh, was arrested from near the gate of the scooter parking at the ISBT, Sector 43, with 20.20 kg of ganja. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act. — TNS
