Early diagnosis can help cure cancer: Yuvraj

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh today stressed the need for detecting cancer at an early stage, saying it paves the way for curing the disease.

Singh, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, said he could be cured because of early detection.

"Sixty per cent of the cancer patients can be cured, provided the disease is detected at an early stage," he pointed.

He advised patients and their family members, not to lose hope as the disease was curable and presented his case an example.

Singh, though, said sometimes prayers played more vital role in a patient’s recovery than medicine.

He also pointed that tobacco was one of the causes for cancer and urged people not to consume it. — PTI
