The Election Commission has issued a notice to BJP candidate Kirron Kher for alleged violation of poll code on a complaint filed by the Congress that she used threatening language against Pawan Bansal. The EC issued another notice to Kher for using a roundabout for campaigning without permission. In both the notices, Kher has been asked to reply within 24 hours.

Congress’s advocate Pankaj Chandgothia, in a complaint filed with a local nodal officer, said the Congress had attached a video CD of a public rally being addressed by Kirron Kher in Sector 20 recently in which she allegedly used abusive and threatening language against Bansal.

He said use of such abusive, threatening and unparliamentary words was wrong. Kher was inciting and wrongly influencing the voters against him, which is a gross violation of the poll code.

In another complaint to the EC, he said BJP workers carried out campaigning at a roundabout without seeking permission. It was said in the complaint that standing on the roundabout with placards is the violation of the poll code.

Plaint by BJP rejected

The Election Commission on Saturday dropped a complaint filed by the BJP alleging use of children in the election campaign by Manish Bansal, son of Pawan Kumar Bansal. The nodal officer for the model code of conduct has said in his recommendation that “after having gone through the video and the reply filed by Pawan Bansal through his advocate, it can be seen that no party worker is instigating children to raise slogans, etc. Therefore, the present show-cause notice may be dropped.” — TNS
