Five youths booked on charge of kidnapping, one held

ZIRAKPUR:The Zirakpur police today booked five youths on the charge of kidnapping a resident of Baldev Nagar, Ambala City.

The Zirakpur police today booked five youths on the charge of kidnapping a resident of Baldev Nagar, Ambala City. While the kingpin of the gang, Sarabjeet Singh, alias Rocky, a resident of Balongi, was arrested on Saturday, his four accomplices involved in the incident are still at large.

The victim, Sanjeev Kumar, has lodged a complaint with the police following which an FIR was registered against Sarabjeet Singh, alias Rocky, and his four accomplices at the Baltana police chowki.

In his complaint to the police, Sanjeev stated that on September 8, he, along with his two pals, Jaskaran Singh and Mitthu, residents of Ambala and Zirakpur, respectively, had gone to Chandigarh to meet his friends. The victim stated that on his way back to Ambala, he stopped his Hyundai Verna car near a petrol pump on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway near the Baltana inter-section to get a packet of cigarettes and a bottle of mineral water.

Sanjeev said when he got off his car, five youths in an Esteem car, bearing registration number of Chandigarh, intercepted him and held him hostage. He alleged that one of them was carrying a sharp-edged weapson.

The youths forced him to take the seat and drove their car towards Ambala. Sanjeev further alleged in his complaint that the accused also robbed him off his belongings, including a mobile phone and wallet. They also transferred around Rs16,000 through his Paytm account before leaving him at an isolated place on the outskirts of the city. — OC
