Husband arrested for abetment of suicide

LALRU: The local police on Tuesday booked six persons on a charge of abetment of suicide.

The local police on Tuesday booked six persons on a charge of abetment of suicide.

A 33-year-old woman, Manju Rani of Ambala district, had allegedly committed suicide hanging herself from a ceiling fan at Jaula Kalan village on Monday.

A case under Section 306 of the IPC has been registered against deceased’s husband, her brother-in-law and in-laws on the complaint of deceased’s bother Prateek

The police arrested Rajeev on Monday.

The deceased’s brother in his complaint told the police that his sister got married to Rajeev Kumar, a resident of Jaula Kalan village, Lalru, 16 years ago and they had two children.

Parteek told the police that his sister was working while her husband Rajeev was unemployed. He said Manju was being physically and mentally tortured by her husband and other family members over the past several months.

He said in-laws also raised questions on her character and being upset over this, Manju hanged herself from a ceiling fan.— OC
