Lalru man stabbed over petty argument

LALRU: A petty argument over giving space on the road spurred a man to go on a stabbing spree in Lalru here on Saturday. A man suffered injuries in the attack. The victim, identified as Sudhir, a resident of Lalru, has been admitted to a hospital.

A petty argument over giving space on the road spurred a man to go on a stabbing spree in Lalru here on Saturday. A man suffered injuries in the attack. The victim, identified as Sudhir, a resident of Lalru, has been admitted to a hospital.

According to information, the incident took place on Saturday when the victim, Sudhir, along with his brother Rohit, was heading back home on a motorcycle from Chandigarh. When the duo reached near the ITI Intersection in Lalru, a car coming from the Ballopur side came in front of their motorcycle obstructing the way.

The police said the car driver entered into an argument with Sudhir, which turned violent and the former took out a knife and allegedly stabbed Sudhir in his stomach. The suspect, along with his four friends, including two women, fled from the spot.

The victim was shifted to a nearby hospital in Lalru, from where he was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, in Chandigarh. His condition is stated to be out of danger, said the police.

Acting on the statement of the victim’s brother Rohit, the police have registered a case against five persons, including two women, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Lalru police station. Further probe is on in the case.
