Zirakpur, August 12

The Dhakoli police on Saturday night arrested two persons and booked five unidentified people for allegedly manhandling local lensmen outside a discotheque at Zirakpur.

Nirmal Singh, investigating officer (IO), said the accused, Brij Bhushan, manager of Hypnotic Lounge bar, and Dilpreet Singh had been arrested for manhandling the lensmen.

The IO said the police reached the discotheque following a complaint that a party was on there even after 12 midnight. The main door of the discotheque was closed, but inside the party was going on in full swing when the police reached, much to the shock of revellers. In the meantime, photo journalists also reached there and tried to record the incident.

The police said the employees, along with a few bouncers deputed at the discotheque, entered into a scuffle with the photojournalists while they were clicking pictures, which led to the attack. It has been learnt that the bouncers also snatched their cameras during the attack.

Acting on a complaint of the lensmen, the police have registered a case against Brij Bhushan and Dilpreet Singh, who have been arrested, and five others, who are yet to be identified, at the Dhakoli police station.

Discotheque owners are reportedly flouting the norms by not closing these at the prescribed time. According to the orders of the District Magistrate, these are supposed to be closed at midnight.
