AMBALA: A 28-year-old man was shot at for allegedly marrying a girl from another caste in Shahzadpur market on Thursday night.

A 28-year-old man was shot at for allegedly marrying a girl from another caste in Shahzadpur market on Thursday night.

The victim has been identified as Arvind, alias Monu, a resident of Banondi village of Shahzadpur.

As per information, Arvind had sustained three bullet injuries, one near his chest and two on the back. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 (GMCH-32), Chandigarh.

The suspects have been identified as Kapil, Amit, Shubham, and Chintu.

In his complaint to the police, Arvind stated that around 8:15 pm, he was about to leave for home in his car when the suspects, who were carrying arms, reached there. Kapil and Amit opened fires at him.

The victim tried to escape but Chintu, Shubham and other suspects chased him. They attacked him with sharp weapons. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment, from where he was referred to the GMCH-32 for further treatment.The suspects fled the spot after the attack. While fleeing they threatening to kill him if he survived the attack, he alleged.

Arvind alleged that he was in love with a girl and married her six months ago. The attack was fallout of their marriage, he alleged.

On getting information, cops from the Shahzadpur police station and Dr GR Jain, a forensic expert, reached the spot and started an investigation. 

Three empty shells and samples of blood were collected from the spot. These will be sent to the forensic lab at Madhuban for examination.

A case has been registered against the four suspects under Sections 341, 307, 506, 34 and 54 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Arvind is reportedly out on bail in an attempt-to-murder case. 

Shahzadpur SHO Subhash Singh said, “The matter is being investigated. Efforts are being made to nab the suspects.”
