MC, firm officials to meet on April 24 to end stalemate

CHANDIGARH: To fulfill smart parking directives, officials of the Municipal Corporation and parking firm Arya Toll Infra Ltd are going to hold a meeting on Tuesday.

To fulfill smart parking directives, officials of the Municipal Corporation and parking firm Arya Toll Infra Ltd are going to hold a meeting on Tuesday.

The two parties will set goals for each other. Whatever has been committed in the MoU, they will work on fulfilling the same. Commissioner Jitender Yadav and Joint Commissioner TS Saini will be present in the meeting. The firm has asked the MC to give basic amenities and remove vendors from parking lots. The emphasis will be on curbing unauthorised parking outside paid lots. While the MC too will ask the firm to provide attendants at every 50-m area, give attendants uniform and avoid haphazard parking.

Sandeep Bhora, parking firm coordinator, said, “We have requested the Commissioner to meet on Tuesday. Later, we will also meet F&CC members to fulfill what is lacking on its part.”

The members comprising councillors had tabled its 90-page report in the General House meeting on April 16 where it had detected several discrepancies. Following which, the House had resolved roll back of increased parking rates and termination of the contract. The recommendation will be sent to the Secretary, Local Government. — TNS
