Chandigarh, April 18

The Municipal Corporation (MC) on Wednesday served a show-case notice on Arya Toll Infra Ltd, the firm managing paid parking lots in the city, to clear its pending licence fee of around Rs 2.69 crore by Friday evening.

The MC also sought to know from the company in the notice that why action should not be taken against it if it fails to pay the pending instalment.

The MC action follows the MC House meeting in which it was questioned why no action was taken against the firm even as the deadline to deposit the fee had ended. The firm had deposited only Rs 1 crore of the total Rs 3.69 crore, the advance instalment of the licence fee for the next quarter.

Parking firm director Sunil Badlani said, “We will study the notice before taking a decision on the payment.”

Sources said the firm had prepared a list of 17 parking lots where there were some issues that the MC needed to fix. It wants to make it an issue that until those works were done, they would not be able to make the payment.

There is a clause in the MoU between the firm and civic body that if the former fails to pay licence fee in the stipulated time, the latter could terminate the contract without any notice.
