Minister to chair NZC meet

CHANDIGARH: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 29th meeting of the Northern Zonal Council (NZC) to be hosted by Haryana here tomorrow.

Chandigarh, September 19 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 29th meeting of the Northern Zonal Council (NZC) to be hosted by Haryana here tomorrow.

The governments of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, newly created UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and Delhi constitute the council. The CM of the member states, along with two ministers of each state, will attend the event. The administrators of UTs, chief secretaries and senior officials of the state and the Central governments will also attend the meeting.

The council resolves issues between the Centre and states. It discusses issues, including boundary-related disputes, security, infrastructure-related matters like roads, transport, industries, water and power, matters pertaining to forests and environment, housing, education, food security and tourism among others. —TNS
